History

Sekolah Tinggi Teknologi Nasional (STTNAS) Yogyakarta is a university organized by Yayasan Pendidikan Teknologi Nasional (YPTN), a foundation established by former Army Students (TNI – AD Be-XVII) with Notarial Deed of Raden Mas Soerjanto Partaningrat, SH, Number 24 dated March 17, 1972.

In the beginning, STTNAS is a university that organizes educational programs up to baccalaureate degree with the name of Akademi Teknologi Nasional (ATNAS) which organizes 4 (four) departments, namely: Civil Building Technology, Industrial Machinery Technology, Electrical Technology and Mineral Technology. The four departments obtained the registered status as of January 1, 1974 based on the Decree of the Coordinator of Higher Education Region IV No 03 / K IV / ST / 74 dated March 18, 1974.

In 1986 ATNAS grew into Sekolah Tinggi Teknologi Nasional (STTNAS) based on the Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia No 0790a / 0/1986 dated 3 November 1986. The change of name was also followed by the change of name of all departments within STTNAS Yogyakarta. Department of Civil Building Technology changed to Department of Civil Engineering, Department of Industrial Machinery Technology changed to Department of Mechanical Engineering, Department of Electrical Technology turned into Department of Electrical Engineering and Department of Mineral Technology changed to Department of Geological Engineering.

Currently, STTNAS Yogyakarta manages 8 courses, consisting of 6 S1 Study Programs namely Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Geology Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Planology Engineering and Mining Engineering, and 2 D-III Study Programs, Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering.
